This is taken literally during episode 3′s “Onsen-on-ice” that put Victor in the Judge’s seat.īut before being the judge, Victor was also the choreographer. If a judge has a bias for fast skating, for instance, and a particular coach consistently turns out fast skaters, that judge will tend to reward students of that coach.įor an audience that isn’t aware of what parameters to judge the performances on, whether intended or not, Victor exists to act as a guide to help the audience judge which performance was better. Not being uniform and judges having a bias is common.īy bias, I mean that a judge might value certain aspects of skating more than other aspects - maybe speed, maybe depth of edges, or musicality, etc. This is important because accusations of the judging parameters for all judges The judges score a portion of the programs based on their observation.

There’s an element of performance in it, and the scores are partly subjective.
